Postgraduate Summer School

Study at a Latin American leading university and experience living in Southern Chile at our Postgraduate Summer School. The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (University of Chile) will run an intensive but stimulating programme that gives Postgraduate students (Master and Ph.D.) the chance to increase their academic standing in Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences.The language will be English

In this course we study the interactions that occur between biosphere and atmosphere. We will review the theoretical background associated to these topics, along with the most common techniques used to monitor these interactions. The course will combine classes with discussions, field trips to long term research sites, and some work with data.

This course presents an overview of major water management topics in different countries, considering issues such as increasing water scarcity and pollution, and innovative tools such as water footprinting, hydrological modelling, remote sensing and geographical information system to help improve water management. Students will be introduced to new emerging topics for research and education to address water issues.

The course is aimed at professionals or applied ecologists who aspire to maintain sustainable and resilient ecosystems in a world in constant change. The course focuses on the study of vegetation dynamics at various spatial and temporal scales, from theoretical and empirical perspectives. We seek that the student acquires theoretical and applied concepts of ecological succession.
